Crete Quiz

Largest Greek island — Minoan palace of Knossos, Samaria Gorge, and birthplace of Zeus

Crete Quiz: Test Your Knowledge of Greece's Largest Island

Sir Arthur Evans coined 'Minoan' in 1900 — naming Europe's first civilization after the mythical king who imprisoned the Minotaur in the Knossos labyrinth. Crete is Greece's largest island and the fifth-largest in the Mediterranean, with snow-capped Mt Ida rising over 2,400 meters above 16-kilometer gorges and pink-sand beaches.

How It Works

Each round presents 10 randomized questions from a pool of 50, with four multiple-choice options and instant feedback after every answer. Your final score comes with a performance tier and shareable results.

What You'll Learn

You'll explore Minoan civilization and the palace of Knossos, the undeciphered Phaistos Disc and Linear A scripts, Mt Ida and the Idaean Cave where Zeus was raised, Heraklion and Chania, the Battle of Crete, the Samaria Gorge, traditional Cretan cuisine and the Mediterranean diet, and the legacy of Nikos Kazantzakis.
