Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups. The three largest are the Hausa-Fulani in the north, the Yoruba in the southwest, and the Igbo in the southeast. Together these three groups make up roughly 60% of the population, but Nigeria’s ethnic diversity extends far beyond them, with groups like the Ijaw, Kanuri, Ibibio, and Tiv each numbering in the millions.
Nollywood is Nigeria’s film industry, and it is the second-largest in the world by volume of films produced — approximately 2,500 films per year. It surpasses Hollywood in output and is second only to India’s Bollywood.
