Romania occupies 238,397 square kilometers in southeastern Europe and is home to the Palace of the Parliament — the heaviest building in the world at approximately 4.1 billion kilograms. From the Carpathian Mountains and the painted monasteries of Bucovina to the Danube Delta and the legend of Vlad the Impaler, this quiz challenges your knowledge of one of Europe's most historically rich countries.
Each round presents 10 randomized questions from a pool of 50, with four multiple-choice options and instant feedback after every answer. Your final score comes with a performance tier and shareable results.
You'll explore the Carpathian arc and Moldoveanu peak, the Transylvania-Wallachia-Moldavia regions, the Dacian ruins at Sarmizegetusa Regia, Vlad III's connection to Bran Castle, Bucharest and Ceausescu-era architecture, the Transfagarasan Highway, the UNESCO painted monasteries, Timisoara's 1989 Revolution, and Romania's role as the only Romance-language nation in Eastern Europe.
Romania is divided by the arc of the Carpathian Mountains into three historic regions: Transylvania in the center and northwest, Wallachia in the south, and Moldavia in the northeast. The Danube River forms most of the southern border.
Vlad III (Vlad Tepes) ruled Wallachia in the 15th century and earned his nickname from his brutal method of executing enemies on wooden stakes. Bram Stoker later borrowed the 'Dracula' epithet — meaning 'son of the Dragon' — for his 1897 Gothic novel.
At 5,165 square kilometers, the Danube Delta is Europe's largest and best-preserved delta. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and hosts over 300 bird species including Dalmatian pelicans and the largest concentration of great white pelicans in Europe.
