Trinidad & Tobago Quiz

From Carnival and steel pan to Pitch Lake and Angostura bitters β€” how well do you know the twin-island republic?

Trinidad & Tobago Quiz: Steel Pan, Carnival, and Caribbean Culture

Trinidad's steel pan is the only acoustic musical instrument invented in the 20th century β€” and that remarkable fact is just one reason the twin-island republic of Trinidad & Tobago punches far above its weight on the world stage. Sitting just 11 km off the Venezuelan coast, these two islands gave the world Carnival, calypso, and soca, produce the Caribbean's largest volumes of oil and gas, and are home to one of the planet's largest natural asphalt lakes. This quiz covers the history, geography, culture, food, and famous people of T&T across 50 questions.

How It Works

Each round presents 10 randomized questions from a pool of 50, with four multiple-choice options and instant feedback after every answer. Your final score comes with a performance tier and shareable results.

What You'll Learn

You'll explore Trinidad's Pitch Lake and Caroni Swamp, the origins of the steel pan and calypso, Tobago's Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool, the history of indentured Indian labor, the 1990 coup attempt, Nobel laureate V.S. Naipaul, the street food doubles, and Angostura bitters β€” the cocktail ingredient made in Port of Spain since 1824.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Trinidad Carnival?

Trinidad Carnival takes place on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday each year, making it a moveable feast tied to the Catholic liturgical calendar.
