Elves in Frieren's world live for over 1,000 years. Frieren herself has lived for centuries, which is central to the story's themes — she perceives decades the way humans perceive weeks, making her slow to appreciate the brevity and value of human relationships.
Madhouse animated the first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, which ran for 28 episodes from September 29, 2023, to March 22, 2024. The studio is known for other acclaimed anime including Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, and One Punch Man Season 1.
