Beyond Journey's End — the elf mage, the afterparty of heroism, and quiet grief
The Frieren anime's 2023 debut was the first two-hour premiere of a weekly anime ever aired in prime time on Japanese TV. Adapted by Madhouse from Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's award-winning Weekly Shonen Sunday manga, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End picks up after the heroes have already won — and watches its long-lived elven mage learn to grieve, remember, and connect with humans she once dismissed.
Each round presents 10 randomized questions from a pool of 50, with four multiple-choice options and instant feedback after every answer. Your final score comes with a performance tier and shareable results.
You'll explore the original Hero's Party of Himmel, Heiter, Eisen, and Frieren, the apprentices Fern and Stark, the looming First-Class Mage Exam, the demonic threats led by Aura the Guillotine, the legacy of Great Mage Flamme, the music of Evan Call and YOASOBI, and the awards that have made Frieren one of the most acclaimed anime of the decade.
The original Hero's Party consists of Himmel the Hero, Heiter the priest, Eisen the dwarf warrior, and Frieren the elven mage. Together they defeated the Demon King after a ten-year journey before the story begins.
The First-Class Mage Exam is the Continental Magic Association's test to certify the most powerful mages on the continent. Frieren and Fern take it together, and the arc introduces major characters including Serie, Sense, Denken, Wirbel, and Übel.
Frieren is an elf, and elves in the series live for many centuries with little physical aging. By the time the story begins, Frieren has lived more than a thousand years, and her perception of time is one of the show's central themes.
