Questions span the 12 Olympians on Mount Olympus (2,917 m), the Titanomachy, Heracles' 12 Labors, Perseus and Medusa, Theseus and the Minotaur, and the full arc of the Trojan War. One striking detail: the Trojan War lasted 10 years, and Odysseus then spent another 10 years trying to get home โ a 20-year absence from Ithaca in total.
The 12 Olympians are the major gods who reside on Mount Olympus: Zeus (king of the gods), Hera (marriage), Poseidon (sea), Athena (wisdom), Apollo (sun and music), Artemis (hunt), Ares (war), Aphrodite (love), Hephaestus (forge), Hermes (messenger), Demeter (harvest), and Dionysus (wine). Notably, Hades is not counted among the Olympians because he rules the Underworld rather than dwelling on Olympus.
The Trojan War was triggered by the Judgment of Paris. The Trojan prince Paris was asked to judge which goddess โ Hera, Athena, or Aphrodite โ was the fairest. Each offered a bribe: Hera offered power, Athena offered wisdom in battle, and Aphrodite offered the most beautiful woman in the world โ Helen of Sparta. Paris chose Aphrodite and abducted Helen, sparking the 10-year war between Greece and Troy.
The 12 Labors were tasks Heracles had to complete as penance for killing his family in a fit of madness caused by Hera. They are: (1) Slay the Nemean Lion, (2) Slay the nine-headed Lernaean Hydra, (3) Capture the Ceryneian Hind, (4) Capture the Erymanthian Boar, (5) Clean the Augean Stables, (6) Slay the Stymphalian Birds, (7) Capture the Cretan Bull, (8) Steal the Mares of Diomedes, (9) Obtain the Belt of Hippolyta, (10) Obtain the Cattle of Geryon, (11) Steal the Apples of the Hesperides, and (12) Capture Cerberus from the Underworld.
