Ride through both Red Dead Redemption games, from John Marston's revenge quest in 1911 to Arthur Morgan's tragic story in 1899. Cover the Van der Linde gang's members and their fates, the honor system, the massive open world spanning five fictional states, and the game's record-breaking sales and development history.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) is a prequel set in 1899, following Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. Red Dead Redemption (2010) takes place in 1911, following John Marston as he hunts down his former gang members. The story is chronologically RDR2 first, then RDR1.
The Van der Linde gang is led by Dutch van der Linde, with key members including Arthur Morgan, John Marston, Hosea Matthews, Sadie Adler, Charles Smith, Micah Bell, Lenny Summers, and many others. At its peak, the gang has over 20 members living together in camp.
The honor system tracks Arthur's morality on a scale from low to high based on player choices. Helping strangers, sparing lives, and caring for your horse increase honor, while robbing and killing innocents lower it. Your honor level affects NPC interactions, available missions, and crucially determines which ending you receive.
