The yellow jersey, mountain stages, and the world's most famous bike race.
This cycling quiz draws from 50 questions covering the Tour de France, Grand Tours, legendary riders, and the wider world of competitive cycling. One remarkable fact: Tour de France riders burn between 5,000 and 8,000 calories per day during the race — the equivalent of running roughly two marathons every single day for three consecutive weeks.
Each round randomly selects 10 questions from our pool of 50, so every attempt is different. All questions are multiple choice with four options, and you receive instant feedback after each answer. Share your final score to see how your cycling knowledge compares to friends and family.
Questions cover the history of the Tour de France since 1903, iconic mountain climbs like Alpe d'Huez and Mont Ventoux, Grand Tour rivalries, jersey classifications, Spring Classics, track cycling, women's racing, and legends from Eddy Merckx to Tadej Pogačar. You'll also explore doping controversies, Olympic cycling, and the tactics that make professional road racing one of the most strategic sports in the world.
The Tour de France consists of 21 stages raced over 23 days (with two rest days) and covers approximately 3,500 kilometers (2,175 miles). The race takes place every July, winding through the French countryside, mountains, and sometimes crossing into neighboring countries. It has been held annually since 1903, making it the oldest and most prestigious Grand Tour in professional cycling.
The record for the most Tour de France victories is shared by four riders with five wins each: Jacques Anquetil (1957, 1961-1964), Eddy Merckx (1969-1972, 1974), Bernard Hinault (1978-1979, 1981-1982, 1985), and Miguel Indurain (1991-1995). Lance Armstrong's seven consecutive wins from 1999-2005 were stripped after his doping confession in 2013, and no replacement winners were named for those years.
The Tour de France features four main jersey classifications. The yellow jersey (maillot jaune) is worn by the overall race leader in the general classification. The green jersey (maillot vert) goes to the best sprinter based on points accumulated at stage finishes and intermediate sprints. The polka-dot jersey (white with red dots) is awarded to the best climber, known as the King of the Mountains. The white jersey is given to the best young rider (under 26 years old) in the general classification.
