The first FIFA World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930. Thirteen teams participated, and the host nation won the tournament by defeating Argentina 4-2 in the final at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
Miroslav Klose of Germany holds the all-time record with 16 goals scored across four World Cup tournaments (2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014). He surpassed Ronaldo of Brazil, who scored 15 goals, during the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
